Egypt 2015!

I have just not had the time to write up a daily post for each of the days I was in Egypt but in reality, I really don't need to. For the first time ever, I vlogged every single day (for a week), and so you can literally see what I did while I was there.

I had so much fun. Click here to subscribe to my channel or here to see the Egypt 2015 playlist. Here are the thumbnails from each video so click on them to be taken directly through to the daily vlog.

5 Ingredient Spaghetti Carbonara!

I like quick and easy recipes so here is one of my favourites!

Spaghetti or Pasta
Double cream (around 40ml)
Parmesan (4 heaped teaspoons plus more for topping)
Bacon (3 pieces)
Olive oil
Salt and pepper

  1. Put the pasta on with a splash of oil.
  2. Put the bacon on. I don't cook with any oil just for a little healthier recipe.
  3. In a bowl whisk the egg, cream and parmesan. Then stir in the salt and pepper. I like mine quite creamy and not very cheesy so it depends on how you like it; play around with the quantities.
  4. When the bacon is nearly cooked, cut it into bite-sized pieces.
  5. When the pasta is al-dente, drain the pasta and then put it back in the pan and add the creamy mixture and bacon.
  6. Place back on the heat for 2 minutes, stirring continuously otherwise the eggs will scramble.
  7. Eat and enjoy!

PIXELS (Review)

Go see the daily blog post of when I went to see it here :)

Adam Sandler leads the fightback against arcade game alien invaders in this imaginative sci-fi comedy! The US president (Kevin James) faces his gravest crisis when aliens take the form of characters from old computer games to attack the Earth. So he calls in his childhood friend and '80s arcade game champ (Adam Sandler) to help defeat the Space Invaders!

I thought the movie was really good, just as I expected it to be from the trailer. The friends I went with were unimpressed by the trailer but surprisingly enjoyed the movie.

It started off when the main characters were young and were at a competition. It saw friendships formed and enemies fought and then went 20 years into the future to see where they all were. The surprise was that one of them was the president! When aliens misinterpret the message sent years earlier, he invites his childhood friends into serious meetings, to which they constantly made jokes at his expense.

It was definitely a comedy more than a sci-fi. I was constantly laughing throughout the movie and not just at the stupidity of the characters. The jokes were actually really clever and spot on. It was the type of movie Adam Sandler is known for and what we all know him to be great at. Not only that, but it had romantic storylines infused throughout which made it more relatable. The two themes intertwined create my favourite movies!

I think my favourite parts were the surprise special guest appearances: Serena Williams and real-life Pac-Man creator Toru Iwatani, the later not playing himself! I thought it was hilarious when Michelle Monaghan who plays Violet van Patten, had time for costume changes and hair-style changes and there was never a hair out of place. I also liked that they had the cars play ghosts to destroy Pac-Man.

I loved the ending. They basically did a pixel-ated version of the entire move in a MarioBros type video game; it had a really good song to go with it. I insisted on staying until the very end!

It was a really nice movie to lay back and watch. It was funny and easy-going. The perfect movie to end a long day.

I was disappointed when reading reviews because they all seemed to see the movie as a joke and yes it was but in a good way.'It was breezy and it worked!' Read my favourite review here.

How To: Clothespin Photo Banner

I've been wanting to print out my Instagram pictures for a really long time but I've never gotten around to it. It's taken a while but I've finally found an idea I love and it's so super easy so I hope you can follow along!

What You Need:
NB: Click on the photos for links on where to purchase the items needed!
  • String or Ribbon
  • Amazon £2.49
  • Wooden Clothespin: I chose mini ones
  • Amazon £4.87
  • Pictures:
I did a lot of research and looking around for the best price, with good reviews and high quality for printing these photos. I found PhotoBox For 90 photos it was £10 including delivery. I have also ordered 151 photos for my photo album, for £12.50. For the past 2 years, I have created a photo album for each year but I have been printing them at my dads. PhotoBox is cheaper and easier as they deliver straight to your door. I can't wait for them all to be delivered. They come in a really nice little box so it's nice to keep leftover photos in for storage.

I have a discount code so to get 30 free prints leave me your email address below in the comments or for a quicker reply, email or message me using the 'Stay Connected' links in the sidebar. There you will find my email address and social media accounts. They are also currently offering '100 Free Prints' when you buy 50 classic or premium prints by typing in the following codes at checkout: '100FREECLASSIC' or '100FREEPREMO'. Happy printing!

  • BluTac: I'm not entirely sure what's the best thing to use but I used BluTac. It didn't quite turn out as clean as I had imagined but it still looks good!
  • Scissors
  • Optional: You can stick the pictures on some coloured scrap paper to add some extra colour; it's a good idea to use wrapping paper if the photos are printed on photo paper for the weight. You can also add the scrap paper to the clothespins or paint them and decorate them. Personally I like the simple look: the photos with the white border and the wooden clothespins. I also ended up using glitter!

  1. Measure the length of the string needed. Make sure if you want it to be curved, make it longer!
  2. Cut the number of pieces you want.
  3. Place the clothespins where you want the pictures to go. Do you want them close together or spaces between photos.
  4. Then clip on the photos. I found this easier than doing both at the same time because sometimes the string then didn't attach properly.
  5. Attach a large-ish blob of BluTac to both ends of the string.
  6. Press the BluTac firmly against the wall.
  7. Stand back and enjoy the view! It's that simple! :)

  8. When I stood back and looked at it, something was bothering me. I was annoyed at how blue the BluTac was. 'I may need to consider what to put on the ends like little ornaments to cover up the BluTac blobs.' I know you can tie the string around something but I don't really have anything close by; you can also use push pins but I wouldn't want holes in my wall. As I was routing through my drawers I came across glitter and it matched my wall perfectly so I pressed it into the BluTac and now I'm happy! It looks so pretty and sparkly and blends so well!
The before and after side-by-side images are below, the last is the finished project. I love it! To see in more detail, click on the image to zoom!

The pictures were a little bigger than expected so I still have loads left over as they didn't all quite fit.

Future Projects:
I've also seen it done with a picture frame. If you knock out the glass in front and the back, then attatch the string to the backside of the frame, you can clip the photos on and hang the whole item. I feel this is a more permanent decoration. When I get my own house I'll probably do something similar but I wouldn't want to waste money now as I don't know my future colour scheme!

Hope you enjoyed this little craft of the day. If you have any suggestions, leave in the comments below. If you make this, DM or tag me on Instagram or Twitter :)

Fantastic Four at the Cinema!

I went to see the new 'Fantastic Four' movie at the movie. I was a little unsure on what to expect from the movie. I feel like the last Fantastic Four movie and it's sequel, with Jessica Alba, was only released a short while ago. I don't really understand why they needed to make an updated version so early.

The movie was surprisingly short. It was a good movie and the graphics and special effects were impressive. It was a very similar story to the previous version. There were still 4 people with the exact same powers: fire, invisibility, rock-man and stretchiness. But what was different was how they developed their powers. It was through a child and a science experiment and then watching him grow up and develop his idea, to be selected into a government programme...

It was probably a rather pessimistic interpretation on how the world will have to find energy resources in the not too distance. I hope that wasn't too many spoilers. To be honest, the majority of the film is more the build-up to the powers and then how to resolve it. The simple technique English teachers teach you to write a short story in junior school!

The worst thing was that the guys behind me kept talking and the one sat directly behind me kept kicking my seat. I thought that they would be young but when I turned around at the end, they were like mid-20s! My back was killing.

Clothing (and Technology) Haul

As I said in yesterday's blog, I picked up a few items while shopping.

The material of these 2 tops is so soft, stretchy and loose. I fell in love with both tops when I saw them so had to buy them.
Pineapple Top - £16 Size 12

Tie Dye Top - £16 Size 8
Unfortunately, they didn't have my size but I loved it so much and because the tops are baggy, the 8 just fit!I honestly love it so much I've ordered it online in the 2 other colours: pink and purple!

Dorothy Perkins
Shockingly, my favourite store didn't have any clothes that I loved but I did pick up yet another pair of my flip-flops. I think I officially have them in all the colours. Because summer is coming to an end, these were in the sale and so with a student discount they only cost me £4.50!

Size 6
I'm always looking for new ways to wear my hair. I love pretty and 'clean' looks that are simple to do and on the back of this box are instructions, so hopefully I will be able to recreate and maybe share a look with it soon! It's nice to mix things up every once in a while.
On the other hand, I like consistency. I think I have bought this bobbles almost every other year for nearly 10 years! I just like how they stay in my hair, dry quickly and come in all different colours. I was only going to get 2 packs (8 in total) but the third was free so why not!?
£8 for all
I've been looking for some pretty, dangly earnings so when I saw some mini dream-catchers I desperately wanted them but I didn't particularly like the colour. I wanted some pink earrings because on holiday I wear a lot of pink and I think it goes well with a tan. For £6, plus a student discount and then a further discount because one of the circles was slightly chipped ( ;) ), I got all 3 for £4. I've bought a lot of earrings from Claire's over the years so I don't see the point in spending lots of money on expensive pairs; your style changes over the years and with it, earring preference, so unless you have an allergy and need to only have sterling silver jewellery, buy cheaper ones more often! If you look after them, they last!
I've been patiently waiting to purchase a doughnut to make the perfect bun but apparently it's harder than it looks. Fingers crossed for me!

I've ordered a few items on Amazon recently so I thought I would add my favourite and most useful item. Since I've had Spotify on my phone, I've been really annoyed I couldn't get it to play on my iPod speakers because I have the 30-pin connector on it. For reference I have a 'BOSE SoundDock® Series II digital music system'. First a bought a simple 30pin to lightning connector for £5.99 but somehow I didn't read the small print so it only converts the charging not the sound so I asked for a refund which they gave me but they said I didn't need to return it which I thought was crazy!
So I went back an ordered another one but this time with the 'headphone' attachment and it works perfectly! It fits with my case on so that makes it easier as well as the fact that it means I can use my old iPod charger to charge my phone now :) All for £6.99 whereas the speaker with the lightning adapter was an extra £150.

Hope you enjoyed a little haul post today :) Speak to you, as always, tomorrow!

My Favourite Chips!

Since high school, I fell in love with this simple, easy and health-ier alternative to shop bought chips.

- Potatoes
- Paprika
- Oil
- Salt and Pepper

  1. Cut up the potatoes. I like to live the peel/skin on but you can take that off; I just find it quite tedious and it's not needed. I cut mine in to small bite size and thin chunks.
  2. In a bowl mix the oil (I prefer olive), a sprinkle of salt and pepper and (quite a bit!) of paprika. The actual amounts vary depending on your preference so trial and error.
  3. The messy part: Coat the potato pieces in the mixture making sure to coat all sides.
  4. Tap off excess and lay carefully on a baking tray.
  5. Place in the oven at around 180 degrees in a fan-oven for around 20 minutes - less if you like them al-dente.
  6. Turn them over halfway through and I like to sprinkle on some more paprika!
  7. Eat and enjoy.
Simple and easy.

Late Presents!

I actually kind of like it when I get birthday presents a little (2 months) late. It means that your birthday just keeps going on and on :) So thank you to Hannah for all these presents. They are so incredibly thoughtful and I love them all!

A mug for my green juices. It's so cute and beautiful.

A bracelet with my birth stone, although not the colour. It's simple and elegant which is definitely the look I tend to lean towards.

A lush product. I'm not too sure what it's for yet or what it is, but I shall find out next time I have a bath! Finally, a 'Toasted Marshmallow' candle from Jelly Belly and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to use smells divine as soon as I open it and makes me so hungry! Oh my...

So thank you so much Hannah for your touching and thoughtful presents and I love the cars. It took me a while to read but I really appreciate it. I'll see you again soon!
